There are many studies about the health benefits associated to black chai. The ingredients act synergistically to increase each other’s traditional healing benefits.
Beats fatigue: The uplifting effect is mainly connected to the black tea found in the blend. Our black chai’s caffeine content is rather low compared to a cup of coffee, but it will still give you the necessary energy boost. Furthermore the Indian spices found in our blend help revitalise your body.
Anti-inflammatory: Ginger is the most important ingredient when it comes to helping with inflammation. Additionally the cinnamon and clove work synergistically.
Cold and flu prevention: The antimicrobial properties of the masala chai’s constituent spices make this blend good for strengthening the immune system and minimising common infections’ negative effects. However, if you are after a tea that is specifically formulated to boost immunity, you might be more interested in our Immune Tea.
Improves digestion / reduces bloating: The ginger cuts out the acidic nature of the tea, whereas the clove helps with saliva production. In general, the stomach and intestinal digestive components’ activities are enhanced by the spices found in our black chai tea, which assists in reducing bloating.
Assists in stabilising blood sugar levels: Studies have shown that cinnamon and clove may help increase the body’s insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels.
Assists with PMS relief

Chai simply means “tea”, while masala chai refers to tea prepared with a blend of spices. Masala chai traditionally combines black tea with warming spices and is often enjoyed with milk. Our blend combines full-bodied orange pekoe black tea with cinnamon, fennel, ginger, pepper, star anise, cardamom and clove.
Not quite. A chai latte is a Western café-style drink inspired by masala chai, usually made with spiced tea and steamed milk. Masala chai is traditionally brewed with black tea and spices and can be enjoyed with or without milk.
Masala Chai has a rich, aromatic and warming flavour. The full-bodied black tea is balanced by sweet cinnamon and fragrant cardamom, while ginger, pepper and clove add gentle spicy warmth and star anise and fennel contribute subtle aniseed notes.
Chai has deep roots in India, where spiced tea has become an important part of everyday culture. There is also a popular legend that chai originated thousands of years ago as an Ayurvedic spiced drink. The modern form of masala chai developed much more recently and has evolved into many regional variations.
Masala Chai contains caffeine because it has a black tea base. The exact amount varies depending on how much tea is used, how long it is steeped and how it is prepared. As a general guide, black tea contains less caffeine than a typical cup of coffee.
No. Masala Chai can be enjoyed with or without milk. Adding milk creates a richer, creamier cup and softens the intensity of the spices, while drinking it without milk allows the black tea and spices to come through more clearly.
Masala Chai is warming and aromatic rather than overwhelmingly hot. Ginger, pepper and clove bring a gentle spicy character, while cinnamon and cardamom provide a softer, sweeter balance. You can also adjust the strength by changing the amount of tea or steeping time.
Masala Chai contains caffeine, so it is best considered as part of your total daily caffeine intake during pregnancy. Australian guidance recommends limiting caffeine to 200 mg or less per day. As individual circumstances vary, speak with your doctor, midwife or other qualified healthcare professional about drinking chai during pregnancy.
