The Golden Leaf Awards
The Golden Leaf Awards is Australia’s premier tea awards event and has been developed by Australian Tea Masters Association Pty. Ltd, to promote and provide recognition to the high quality teas that are available globally but particularly in Australia.
The GLA is an independently organised competition, judged by professional cuppers, to distinguish the highest quality & best tasting teas commercially available in the Australasian Marketplace.
Awards are granted in a range of specialised categories, with a Gold, Silver and Bronze being selected from among the entries in each.
Judging the Awards
To assess the entries in the Golden Leaf Awards, Australian Tea Masters curates a group of expert tasters. The tasters are drawn from among highly experienced chefs, leading sommeliers, accomplished baristas and food and wine journalists, as well as experienced tea blenders.
To ensure complete objectivity, all tea categories are blind-tasted, according to strict preparation protocols and without any brand identification. The judging panel considers different aspects of each submission, including flavour, aroma and appearance, and arrives at a collaborative evaluation.
