Natural Sea Sponge

Our natural sea sponges are hand-collected from their natural environment in the Mediterranean using traditional wild-harvesting methods.

Sea sponges have been collected by divers for human use since ancient times, and are a natural, biodegradable, renewable skincare resource.

Sea sponges can be used simply with water or with natural cleansing and body products as a body loofah. Apply gently to the skin using circular motions to exfoliate and encourage circulation. Our sponges are suitable for whole-body use.

Simply rinse your sponge in lukewarm warm water before use, and with fresh water to clean, then gently wring it and allow to air dry on a clean and dry surface between uses.

Sea sponges are naturally antibacterial, but to ensure freshness, a 30 minutes soak every few weeks in 10 parts water to one part white vinegar will help to keep them optimally fresh.

When cared for gently a sponge can last from several months up to a few years. Once your sponge has reached the end of its use for face or body, it can continue to be useful for household cleaning. Before each use, rinse your sponge in lukewarm water. After cleansing, rinse thoroughly with fresh water, gently squeeze out excess moisture, and place it somewhere dry where air can circulate freely. Avoid leaving the sponge dripping wet or in areas where water may pool, as this can weaken the fibres and shorten its useful life.

As a natural product from the ocean, each sponge grows uniquely. Density varies from piece to piece, and more densely grown sponges naturally offer a longer lifespan. Treating your sponge gently—avoiding harsh scrubbing or twisting—will help maintain its structure over time.

Each naturally harvested sea sponge is between 12.5cm and 14cm (Body) and 4.5-6cm (Face) and As each sponge has grown naturally dimensions and textures will vary and images supplied here are for guide purposes.

Natural sea sponges are living marine plants, and each one grows in its own unique form. As a result, every sponge will display individual variations in colour, density, texture and shape. These characteristics are not defects — they are the hallmark of an authentic, untreated natural product.

Our sponges are sustainably harvested and cut by hand. During this process, small natural openings or trimmed areas may be present where the manufacturer removes any sharper fragments such as coral. This careful trimming protects the integrity of the sponge and ensures it is safe and comfortable for use.

Because our sponges are not chemically bleached or artificially standardised, some may show deeper natural colouration where they were attached to the sea bed or coral. These denser sections often hold their shape beautifully over time and do not impact quality or function.

We celebrate these variations as part of the sponge’s natural story.

Sea sponges are a personal hygiene item, and for this reason we’re unable to accept returns or exchanges for any product that has been used or handled beyond initial inspection.

We’re able to offer an exchange or refund only in cases where the item received is not what was ordered or has been damaged in transit. If this occurs, please contact our team within 10 days of delivery so we can assist promptly.

Each sponge is individually assessed prior to dispatch. As a natural product, variations in shape, colour, density, and texture are expected and form part of its unique character. Sponges that meet our quality standards will not be eligible for return or exchange on the basis of appearance.
