Brass Spoon

Organic Merchant’s beautiful antique-style brass spoon comes in two sizes:

• Large – 12cm x 4.5 cm ~ 1 tablespoon
• Small – 11cm x 3 cm ~ ½ teaspoon

The unique brass scoops are handmade in India and perfect for measuring out spices, herbs, coffee, loose leaf tea or cacao powder.

Designed with form and function in mind, the spoon is durable and sophisticated:

• Heavy and thick enough handle for easy use. Does not feel flimsy.
• Anti-microbial properties: In addition to the natural colour and warmth of brass, using this type of metal within the kitchen has been known to have a benefit to your overall health. According to Ayurveda, metals such as brass and copper are considered a staple item in many kitchens due to the anti-bacterial properties.
• Better for the environment: Using natural minerals such as copper and zinc is also better for the environment. They are less hazardous to produce and long lasting, compared to cheaper plastic alternatives often found in the kitchen.

Brass Spoon Care Instructions:

We recommend hand washing with warm water or dusting with a soft cloth.

After a period of time brass reacts with air and begins to oxidise or tarnish, changing the colour slightly. Here are some ways that can help you to maintain your scoops:

• Consider using Pitambari Powder. It is the best and most traditional way to clean brass items.
• Vinegar with a combination of salt can be applied with a cloth to clean the spoon. Alternatively immerse the spoon in a solution of vinegar and salt in boiling water.
• Lemon and salt mixed together can be rubbed to clean the product. The salt can also be replaced with baking soda.
