Tasmanian Pepperberry or Mountain Pepper is a shrub native to Tasmania and is a potent superfood that has been used to flavour food and for its therapeutic properties. Indigenous Australians used Tasmanian Pepperberries for the treatment of skin disorders, venereal diseases, colic, stomach ache and as a quinine substitute [1]. Studies have shown it to be high in vitamin E, folate, and antioxidants [2]. It has also been found to aid in the the slow absorption of glucose, which helps to stabilise blood sugar levels.
Tasmanian pepperberry is used in our Australian Outback Chai Tea.
