Tea for relaxation and sleep

Welcome to our curated collection of teas for relaxation, your destination for finding the perfect blend to unwind and decompress. In today's fast-paced world, finding small daily rituals to slow down and recharge is more important than ever. One of the most effective ways to create calm is through the simple act of enjoying a soothing cup of herbal tea. Beyond the warmth and comfort of the brew, these infusions have long been celebrated as a natural way to unwind, let go of tension, and prepare for restful sleep.

Our Relaxation Tea collection brings together thoughtfully crafted blends designed to nurture peace of mind and restore balance. From gentle floral tisanes to grounding, adaptogenic blends, each infusion is created with care by a naturopath, using only certified organic ingredients. Whether you're looking for a calming evening ritual, a gentle tea to sip during a stressful day, or a natural way to support better rest, you'll find options to suit your lifestyle.

Highlights from our range include award-winning blends like Peaceful Tea and Restful Tea, each carefully balanced to help you let go of stress and settle into stillness. For moments of quiet reflection, Meditation Tea supports focus and inner balance, while our classic Chamomile Tea offers a timeless choice for pure, gentle relaxation. For something a little different, our Spirit Dust cacao blend combines indulgence with stress support, perfect when you want comfort in a cup.

If you'd like to learn more about the science behind calming teas and how specific herbs support the nervous system, we've covered this in detail in our Best Tea for Anxiety guide, and we've written a companion piece on sleep tea and building a bedtime ritual. Browse our Relaxation Tea collection today and discover how a simple cup can bring calm moments of peace back into your everyday routine.

FAQ and further info about calming tea 🌙

Herbalists call this group nervines, herbs that act on the nervous system. Chamomile is the gentlest and most familiar, soft and apple-like, traditionally used to settle both mind and stomach. Lavender is aromatic and works partly through scent as well as taste. Lemon balm is bright and lemony, traditionally used for restlessness. Tulsi, or holy basil, is an adaptogen used for sustained stress rather than a single tense evening. Rose is included for softness and for the ritual as much as anything else. Every ingredient in each blend is listed in full on its product page.

Chamomile if you want something to drink every night without thinking about it. It is mild, pleasant and forgiving, and pure Chamomile Tea is where most people start. Lavender is more assertive and more aromatic, and a little goes a long way, which is why we blend rather than serve it alone. Our Restful Tea combines the two with lemon, which is the easiest way to try lavender without it dominating the cup.

No. Valerian is effective for some people but it has a strong, distinctly earthy smell that many find unpleasant, and it is heavier in its effect than most people want from a cup of tea. We have built this collection around gentler nervines that you can drink nightly and actually look forward to. If you are considering valerian specifically, that is a conversation for your healthcare professional or a qualified herbalist.

Most people notice something within twenty to thirty minutes, which is about how long it takes for the warmth, the pause and the herbs to do their work together. Some of the effect is the ritual rather than the pharmacology, and that is not a lesser thing: stopping what you are doing to make a cup is itself a signal to your nervous system. Adaptogens like tulsi work more gradually and are generally used consistently over weeks.

Around an hour before you want to be asleep works for most people. Much closer and you may find yourself getting up in the night; much earlier and the wind-down effect has faded by the time you go up. If broken sleep from a full bladder is a problem, make it a smaller cup and have it earlier. There is more on building an evening routine in our guide to sleep tea for bedtime.

Cover the cup. This matters more here than with almost any other category, because much of what makes chamomile and lavender calming sits in volatile aromatic oils that leave with the steam if the cup is open. Use water off the boil, steep for five minutes or longer, and keep a lid or a saucer on top. Exact times are on each product page. Flowers and leaves also need room to open, so a tea infuser or glass teapot works better than a cramped ball strainer.

Yes, and many people find it more useful than the evening cup. A caffeine-free blend at three in the afternoon does something a coffee cannot. Chakra Tea is built around tulsi and is grounding without being sedating, which makes the blend well suited to a working day.

Chamomile is the traditional answer, which is why it appears in both our calming and our digestive blends. It is used for a nervous or churning stomach as much as for a busy mind. Pure Chamomile Tea is the simplest option, and you can find blends formulated specifically for gut comfort in our Digestive Health collection.

Some are and some are not, and caffeine free does not mean pregnancy safe. We have a dedicated Pregnancy + Nursing collection formulated with this in mind. Please check with your midwife, obstetrician or healthcare professional before starting any herbal tea while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Weak chamomile is traditionally given to children, but not everything in this collection is appropriate and quantities need reducing by age. We do not publish paediatric dosing. Please speak with your GP if you have any doubts or contact us with your specific question.

A warm bath does much of the same work, and for many people the two together are better than either alone. Our Lucent Balancing Bath Soak and Radiance Relaxing Bath Soak are both formulated for the evening.
