Health benefits of herbs in Mulled Spice Tea

The ingredients found in our mulled tea are full of health benefits.

Clove (Eugenia Caryophyllata): A wonderful antioxidant. It has analgesic properties and is therefore good for pain relief. Clove is a natural antiseptic, and helps calming digestive tonic for cramping conditions.

Elderberry (Sambucus Nigra): Offers wonderful immune support. It is Antioxidant, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory, helping to ease coughing and expel mucus in the respiratory tract.

Nutmeg (Myristica): Fragrans another wonderful antioxidant with analgesic properties. It has both, soothing and stimulating effect on the nervous system and is also a digestive tonic for conditions such as nausea, gastritis, and indigestion.

Juniper berry (Juniperus Communis): Has strong antiseptic and astringent properties wonderful in treating urinary conditions. It helps to calm, heal and cleanse the digestive system.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum): Is a wonderful antioxidant. It is antibacterial and antifungal. Cinnamon supports good circulation, balances blood sugar levels, regulated hormones and maintains digestion.

How to brew Mulled Spice Tea

• Place 1-2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per cup (250ml) into an infuser or teapot and pour over boiling water (100°C)
• Infuse for 5-7+ minutes depending on your desired strength
• Pour into your favourite cup and experience the moment
• We recommend complementing with a slice of lemon to taste
• Enjoy daily, for a festive and fragrant morning or afternoon tea.

How to brew Mulled Spice Iced Tea

Mulled Spice Tea with its rich red colour makes a delightful iced tea or cocktail infusion:

• Place 4-8 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 1 L, into a jug or teapot and fill with boiling water (100°C)
• Infuse for 5-30 minutes, or overnight, depending on your desired strength
• We recommend serving in a tall glass over ice and experience the moment

How to make Winter Warming Mulled Wine – Gluhwein

Mulled wine is a traditional festive blend of warming spices and fruits, guaranteed to raise the spirits. Traditionally served warm during winter, it can be either be an alcoholic (Glühwein/Gluhwein) or non-alcoholic drink. We created our own easy Mulled Wine Recipe for everyone to enjoy.

After finishing your brew, we encourage you to return your steeped herbs back to the earth, for example in your home compost, worm farm or garden waste, allowing it to breakdown into organic matter and return to nourish our environment.

Our Mulled Spice Tea Box and Jar contain 100g and serve up to 35 cups. The compostable Refill Pouch contains 200g and serves up to 70 cups.

Storage

To preserve the vitality, flavour and therapeutic actions of our teas, we recommend storing in our signature MIRON ultraviolet glass jars – or in an airtight container, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Storing in this manner will extend the blends aroma, vibrancy and benefits for up to 24 months.

What does the name Mulled Spice mean?

to “mull” is the process of heating, sweetening, and flavouring with spices. This tea is made with mulling spices like cinnamon, cloves, allspice, anise, and nutmeg, which are steeped together to combine into a rich brew. Citrus and stone fruits and dried fruits can also added to the mixture to enhance its flavour.

We like to take this tradition and adapt it both to Christmas in July, and to bring the flavours into our summer festive season as an iced tea and cocktail infusion. This tea is wonderful in both seasons either served by itself or made into our warming Mulled Wine or refreshing Summer Sangria.
