Brahmi has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years as a neural tonic and memory enhancer.
The name translates to “that which give supreme knowledge”. It is thought ancient scholars would consume this herb when they wanted to memorise long hymns and scriptures.
It has antiviral, hypotensive, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, immunomodulating, adaptogenic, antispasmodic, febrifuge and hepatic properties.
Studies have shown evidence that suggests it may be able to increase cerebral blood flow and potentially reduce the risk of dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy.
