Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

The ashwagandha plant is a small shrub with yellow flowers native to India and Southeast Asia and has a history of use for over 2,500 years.

Extracts or powder from its root or leaves are used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety and fertility issues.

It is highly valued for its neuro-protective, thyroid modulating, anti-anxiety, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties.

As one of the most researched adaptogenic herbs, it is extensively used for its restorative and rejuvenating benefits, as well as its ability to enhance stamina and improve resilience to stress. Also referred to as “Indian ginseng”, it acts as a stress protective agent to lower cortisol levels.
